Yes, I know, another German speaking country. We will soon change language, but since we were in the proximity, I thought we should make a stop in Bregenz. What is so special about this city? Allow me to explain...

Bregenz is situated on Lake Constance ( Bodensee ). What makes it interesting is that the city is very close to Switzerland and Germany. The German border is 5 km away and the Swiss one is at 15 km from the center of Bregenz.
If you want to get as close as possible to the point where the three borders meet, you can go to the pier and make a boat trip. You can also take the boat to the German resort of Lindau ( 20 - 25 min ) or to Konstanz / Constance ( 3h 40 min - 4h ). More details about the schedule are available here.
For those of you who are seasick, but still want to see the place I told you before and also the surrounding, I recommand to look for the cable car to Pfänder ( 1064 m ). Details about the opening hours can be found here and about the rates here.
If you're both seasick and afraid of heights, you will have to settle for what I have just told you and for the stories you will hear from your friends who will go on the lake or on Pfänder. I have an alternative for you though. You can take a walk in the old city or visit the other attractions.
It is not a must to walk as you can rent a bicycle or a segway ( you can find the rates here ) or even take one of the guided tours on the segway ( more details here ).

You can check the complete events schedule here, in the Events section.

One more thing before moving on to the next place. If you get to Bregenz by car, you might want to check out Lichtenstein, the capital Vaduz being only 52 km away.
